Nutrition Month 2009:
How to Boost Nutritional Value in Your Breakfast Oatmeal

Add a scoop of soy protein powder to cooked oatmeal for a quick, inexpensive and nutritionally balanced breakfast. Whole rolled oats are a savvy way to stretch food shopping dollars. And although high in fiber and other nutrients, oats lack protein. Adding a scoop of soy protein powder to cooked oats will boost the nutrition-power of your oatmeal without breaking the bank.

For as little as 25 cents a serving, soy protein powder will add about 25 grams of complete and cholesterol free protein to your breakfast. Look for soy protein powder at natural and specialty food retailers.
