How I Get Healthy in 2008
"Its hard to belive that I will be 50 this year. I am finally ready to live life passionately and authentically. Soaking in every moment as though it was my last and dancing as though no one is watching!!My step-sister died this Christmas, she went to bed and did not wake up. She was 44 and grossly over-weight. Lisa's death was a shock to the entire family. I get that Life Is Now and it is up to me to create a life worth living. What is amazing is how often I have not loved myself, a real slave to stuffing my hurt, frustration and pain with food. I am really a beautiful woman and have hidden from life, locked up inside of these 300 plus lbs Today, this year 2008, I am committed to being responsible for Being healthy and honoring myself.
First, I needed to educate myself as to how my body works and what causes weight gain. I mean the deeper explaination beyond calories and exercise. So I have read about how my body works - the 3 G's - glycogen, glucagon and the glycemic index.
I have decreased my carbs, mindful of having protein each meal. I have eatten 3 balanced meals and a snack for 2 weeks now. Its great, funny I don't crave food like I use to. I am now walking every other day - I am up to 2 miles now.
I have also have been keeping a journal as to when I have an impusle to eat emotionally and choosing to handle the emotion some other way than stuffing. I have lost 6 pounds - I am committed to being responsible for doing the work to necessary to live a long life in good health.
One day, I will weigh less than 200lbs and comfortably fit into these size 16 jeans. It will be great!! I am enjoying this challenging journey. I am worth it. "
